Local video search engine optimization is a key component to the
ranking of videos and websites. In the age of television, and media video is a
quicker and more efficient way to create traffic and rank a video. Inc. 500
companies, small to medium businesses and marketer's alike are all using video
to create more targeted traffic and leads to their websites.

Think about it, when you search for a term
and list of choices appear, would you open a link first or would you click on
the thumbnail that has a video? It's a no-brainer. The Video! We live in a
society of "now" and our eyes are attracted to pictures, videos
etc...
Ok, enough of that. Let's get to why you
are here..... to learn how to do local video search engine optimization on your
video. Today we are going to start with the basics.
Phase I: Keywords
Some things never change. Keywords are and
will continue to be the most important part of any S.E.O. Without targeted
keywords, videos will not rank properly on search engines.
There are 100s of tools that businesses and marketer's use to find
the best keywords. When performing local video search engine optimization, I
recommend NEVER paying for keywords because there are too many free ways to
find targeted keywords.
Google Planner and the Google search work
just fine. Below is a video we ranked back in June. You see the number of
searches and the video is ranked #3. I found the keyword for that video on a
regular Google search. Here are some rules to use when searching for the
appropriate keyword.
- The keyword must have a minimum of 250
searches a month. Otherwise, it's a waste of time. 250 local searches is solid
for local keywords.
- When searching on the regular Google
search engine the maximum searches should be 5,000 or less. We have found that
we rank videos faster when searches are under 5,000.
- Make sure that the keyword has videos in
the search results on the first 3 pages in google. This is not a big deal and
the results don't have to have video in the search results. It is just a
reassurance that out job will be easier.
Ok, how do we find the right keyword?
- Start your search in Google Planner. If
you don't have a Google AdWords’ account click this link Google Planner.
- Once you log in, click on "Search
for new keyword and ad group ideas". Add your keyword in "Product or
service" block.
- Scroll down and click on "Get
ideas".
- Click on "Keyword ideas".
- For this example, I used "Where to
get a root canal". The monthly searches for "Where to get a root
canal" is 260. Bingo, above our minimum 250.
- Now take that keyword over to the Google
search engine and let's see how many monthly searches it gets....
- The monthly searches on Google is over 2
million. Why it is not hard to rank a video with that many searches, we want to
our video rank in 1 to 2 days. As you type the keyword in the search engine,
Google will give you a list of similar keywords in a drop down list that are
most searched monthly. Search those additional keywords to see if any are
similar to your original keyword.
- The keyword similar to "Where to
get a root canal" is "Where to get a root canal without
insurance".
- Now that you have found your keyword,
find 5 more keywords with minimum of 250 searches on Google Planner and under
5,000 searches on Google search engine.
